Woman killed in suspected tiger attack

A woman, working in a coffee plantation, was killed in a suspected tiger attack near Pandarahalli near Chikkamgaluru on Saturday morning. The victim, Sumithra (35), was working in a plantation when the animal attacked and killed her. A tiger was spotted often in the area since September this year.

M.S. Manik, Deputy Conservator of Forests, told The Hindu , that he had received information about the death of the woman. He was on the way to the spot along with his staff, he added.

The place where the woman died is close to Bhadra Tiger Reserve. Movement of tiger around this area has been noticed by many people in the last few months. Residents of the villages nearby and plantation workers are worried over tiger’s movement.
