The Malur police have arrested a 35-year-old woman and her friend on charges of murdering her husband.
Sunitha, wife of Chandrashekhar (39), a resident of Yogimalali village in Tirthahalli taluk had lodged a complaint with Malur police in September 2014 that her husband Chandrashekhar, a construction worker, was missing. In the complaint, she claimed that Chandrashekhar had borrowed Rs. 1.50 lakh and was upset over his failure to repay the same.
On the tip-off, the police had arrested Manjunath, a construction worker from Hosakoppa village, who used to visit Sunitha’s house frequently. During inquiry, Manjunath confessed to have murdered Chandrashekhar at the behest of Sunitha. He also confessed that they had buried his body at a plantation nearby.
Police suspect the relationship between Manjunath and Sunitha could be the reason for the murder. They also said that Chandrashekhar used to frequently quarrel with Sunitha, suspecting her fidelity.
According to the police, on September 2, 2014, Manjunath entered the victim's house from the backdoor and hit him with a wooden log, killing him.
The Malur police have registered a case.
