Woman dies of H1N1

Safiya (47), resident of Kottigehara in Mudigere taluk, died of H1N1 at a hospital in Mangaluru. She had been admitted to a private hospital at Mangaluru on March 3 with high fever. The hospital staff, after conducting a thorough check-up, found on March 5 that she had been infected by H1N1.

Officials of the Health Department at Chikkamgaluru received the information about her death from the Mangaluru hospital on Thursday. According to the officials, the patient had died on March 11. Based on the reports from Mangaluru, the Health Department staff on Friday conducted a survey at Kottigehara to ascertain if other residents of the locality had any symptoms of H1N1.
