A woman filed a complaint with Mulbagal Rural police alleging she had been gang raped by some of her relatives and their friends. Though the alleged incident took place in March, she lodged the complaint on Friday.

The woman, who is living with her sisters in Bengaluru, came to a village in Mulbagal taluk on March 23 to attend the funeral of a relative. When all the relatives and others had gone out for the funeral rituals and the woman was alone in the house, two sons of her aunt (father’s sister), Mohan and Harish, along with three friends entered the house and raped her.

All the five threatened her not to reveal the crime. Fearing dire consequences, she remained silent for nearly two months. However, she lodged the complaint on Friday.

The police have filed cases on charges of rape and threatening. All the five accused are absconding.
