A woman and her two children were found dead in a lodge in Hassan on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Nethra (27) and her two children Vishwas (4) and Meghana (2). Nethra was found hanging from the ceiling fan, while her children’s bodies were lying on the bed.

Nethra had taken a room in Vishnu Lodge around 10.30 p.m. on Tuesday. The lodge staff broke open the room’s door in presence of police around 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Nethra, native of Nidudi in Holenarasipur taluk, was married to Ravi in Malipatna of Arakalgud taluk seven years ago. Her brother Somashekhar told the media that she had differences with her husband for a long time. She had left her husband’s place with her children on Tuesday afternoon. “We were expecting that she would come to our place. As she did not reach our place till late in the evening, we were worried”, he said.

The police have suspected that Nethra committed suicide after killing her two children by forcing them to consume poison. Hassan Extension police have registered the case.
