A 45-year-old woman, who was waiting for a bus to go to hospital, was allegedly abducted and raped by unidentified miscreants in Nagamangala taluk of the district on Monday.
According to sources in Nagamangala Police Station, the victim, a resident of Siddapura Palya, had been ill for the past few days and wanted to visit a clinic near Nagamangala and was waiting for transport.
Two persons came by in a car and offered to drop her to the destination. The woman got into their vehicle. However, she was allegedly taken to a secluded spot in a forest and raped, the Nagamangala police said.
The incident came to light after the severely exhausted woman narrated her ordeal to local residents.
She was immediately taken to a hospital in Nagamangala.
The medical examination confirmed that the victim had been sexually assaulted. But, it is yet to be ascertained how many persons were involved, a police officer said.
“The woman is yet to file a complaint. However, we are probing the incident following her statements to the villagers,” he added.
The doctors said she was not is a condition to give a statement, C.H. Sudheer Kumar Reddy, Superintendent of Police, Mandya, said.
The police are also ascertaining if the miscreants were known to her.
