Minister for Urban Development Roshan Baig said here on Saturday that he would file a defamation case against Hubballi-Dharwad West MLA Aravind Bellad for his baseless charges against him.

Speaking to presspersons on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Fifth State Annual Convention of CREDAI here on Saturday, Mr. Baig said that Mr. Bellad still had time to issue a public apology for making baseless charges against him.

Mr. Bellad had reportedly alleged that Mr. Baig had demanded a commission of 10 per cent for sanctioning projects under the Union government-sponsored ‘Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT)’.

He said that he was not even Minister during the period mentioned by Mr. Bellad. “He should issue a public apology. Otherwise I will consult my advocates and begin the process of filing a defamation case,” he said. Regarding allegations about high investment on the bus stations of the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) in Hubballi-Dharwad, while BRTS bus shelters were being built for less than Rs. 20 lakh in places like Vijayawada, the Minister said that he would visit those places and look into the issue.
