When they tied the knot

Amba Vilas Palace had come alive when the late Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, the last scion of the erstwhile royal family, tied the knot with Pramoda Devi Wadiyar 40 years ago. The whole city was in a festive mood then.

The most recent royal wedding was that of the biological parents of Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar — Swarup Anand Gopal Raj Urs and Leela Tripurasundari Devi — in 1992. Leela Tripurasundari Devi is the sister of the late scion. Mr. Yaduveer’s wedding will be held at the Kalyana Mantap in the palace, which has witnessed every auspicious event of the royal family, including his adoption and coronation last year.
