Wealth case: Lokayukta police raid ex-Minister Renukacharya’s properties

The Lokayukta police on Thursday conducted simultaneous raids at different properties and residences of former Minister M.P. Renukacharya and his relatives.

The raids were conducted as a part of the on-going inquiry into the alleged disproportionate wealth earned by the Minister in the last decade.

The raids were conducted at his sister and father­in­law’s residences at Davangare, two of his residences in Kundur and Kolambi villages in Honnalli taluk, College and hospital owned by the Minister at Shivamogga and two of his residences at Bengaluru. The raids were also conducted at his brother’s residences at Honnalli taluk.

Based on the complaint of RTI Activist and Brashtachar Nirmulana Vedike member Gurupadaiah Mathad, the Special Lokayukta Court had ordered the Davangere Lokayukta Superintendent to conduct a thorough inquiry into disproportionate wealth of the Minister and submit a detailed report by June 26.

In a complaint filed with the Lokayukta, the Activist had stated that in 2004 Assembly Elections, Renukacharya had filed an affidavit to Election Commission stating that he owns property worth Rs. 26.07 lakhs, in 2008 he had declared property worth Rs. 73 lakhs but in the 2013 elections, he has declared property worth Rs. 4.95 crores.

Bapuji Ayurveda Collegein Shivamogga

The Lokayukta police raided Bapuji Ayurveda College managed by M.P. Renukacharya in Shivamogga.

The Lokayukta officials have quizzed the Principal and administrative staff of the college for more than three hours. The documents including the trust registration deed, the receipts related to fee collected from the students have been seized.
