Water-level in KRS rises

Copious rain in the catchment areas of Cauvery River in Madikeri in the last 24 hours has resulted in a significant increase in the inflow into the Krishnaraja Sagar Reservoir (KRS) near Srirangapatna in the district.

The inflow rate was at the rate of 481 cubic feet per second (cusecs) at 8 p.m. on Thursday. “However, the inflow rate was increased to 3,331 cusecs at 8 p.m. on Friday,” Vijaykumar, Executive Engineer, Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Ltd. told The Hindu .

The outflow was at the rate of 791 cusecs during the same period. The water-level in the reservoir has increased by about one foot in the last 24 hours. The level was 62.75 ft. at 6 p.m. on Thursday. The level was 63.75 ft. at 8 p.m. on Friday, an officer said.

The maximum water-level is 124.80 ft.
