Showcasing Karnataka’s potentials as an adventure tourism destination, the three-day kayaking festival in Kali river in Dandeli saw great enthusiasm from both participants and spectators. On day two, over 167 kayakers took part in the event from across the country and countries such as New Zealand, Australia, United Kingdom, United States, Italy and Nepal.

The festival is an initiative of the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Tourism department, General Thimayya National Academy of Adventure (GETHNAA) and Goodwave Adventures, white water kayaking school.

Minister for Youth Empowerment and Sports Pramod Madhwaraj, who inaugurated the event on Friday, promised to take steps to regulate the flow of water in Kali river to facilitate kayaking through the year.
