On receiving a complaint from ex-servicemen and war veterans seeking basic facilities at Sena Nagar, a colony of ex-servicemen, here on Tuesday, district in-charge Minister M.B. Patil expressed anguish over the local bodies not providing facilities.
Ealier, Vishwanath Bhavi, a war veteran who participated in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, said that the jawans who fought against the enemies for the nation now have to fight mosquitoes.
After hearing the complaint, the Minister said, “We all should be ashamed of that; we cannot provide facilities to our war heroes and retired defence personnel.”
He then directed Deputy Commissioner to make necessary arrangements to provide facilities sought for in the colony.
After a complaint against Karnataka Housing Board for not issuing required ownership documents to the beneficiaries, the Minister said that he has heard numerous complaints of mismanagement and irregularities in the KHB. “I will convene a meeting with KHB officials to sort out the problems,” he said.
On a complaint from a beneficiary of taxi offered to Scheduled Castes by the Department of Tourism, the Deputy Commissioner said that a private bank has not been giving loans to such beneficiaries. “The bank is facing ire of the Human Rights Commission and other such organisations for not helping beneficiaries. We have filed a complaint against the bank,” the Deputy Commissioner said.
To this, Mr. Patil asked him to file a complaint with the RBI and also with the Chief Secretary of the State for taking necessary action against the bank.
