Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee chief G. Parameshwara on Saturday said although his desire was to continue in State politics he would abide by the party high command’s decision.

Speaking to presspersons on the sidelines of the swearing in of S.R. Patil as Minister at the Raj Bhavan, Dr. Parameshwara said he was aware of the talk that his name was being considered for nomination to the Rajya Sabha.

On the statements of some Congress MLAs that they were ready to sacrifice their seats to get him elected, Dr. Parameshwara said: “There is no need for anyone to sacrifice their seats for me. People of their constituencies have elected them with a lot of expectations. Let them work towards meeting people’s expectations,” he said.

“More than ministerial berth, I had aimed at getting my party to power and the wish has been fulfilled. As promised in the manifesto, our aim is to provide good governance and I work towards fulfilling it,” he said.

He said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would take a call on the nominations to boards and corporations. “The government requires some time to settle down. The Chief Minister will start the process of nominations after the new Ministers take charge of their departments,” he added.
