Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has ruled out the possibility of a re-examination for the second semester mathematics backlog paper. Several students had alleged that the question paper was ‘leaked’ about half an hour prior to the commencement of the examination on June 14.

Sources in the VTU on Monday said the university’s IT team submitted a report stating that the question paper that was circulated on social networking platforms was fake and had no resemblance to the original one.

However, the university announced that it had decided to constitute a committee to trace the source of the “fake leaks”.

“In the past too, we have had students forging the signature of VTU officials to declare a holiday or stating that the exam has been postponed. This causes unnecessary anxiety among students. We want to initiate strict action this time so that it will prevent students from indulging in such activities,” an official said.

VTU, which has online delivery of question papers, had also sought a report from all affiliated colleges and had also put its IT team on the job.
