The ongoing campaign by the Vivekananda Institute for Leadership Development (V-LEAD), to create voters’ awareness in Mysore, is the first of its kind in the region.

The campaign ‘Making Democracy Work Lok Sabha 2014’ will cover all eight Assembly segments in Mysore, and reach out to a large number of voters in its bid to engage them in issues related to democracy and governance. In continuation of the campaign, activists distributed pamphlets and literature on the elections, the need for voter participation, and the imperatives of holding politicians accountable. During the week, the campaign was held at the city railway station, bus-stand and other places; on Monday, it was conducted at the Mysore zoo.

The campaign also intends to engage with political parties on issues related to corruption and development in the run-up to the Lok Sabha polls. In the days ahead, staff, volunteers and partner NGOs of V-Lead will spread out to different Assembly segments of the constituency and interact with the voters, decision-makers, students and others.
