In the wake of instances of tourists visiting Dudhsagar falls, alighting and boarding passenger and goods trains en route and a few cases of disturbances of rail traffic, the South Western Railway has warned such tourists of punitive action.

In a press release issued here on Saturday, SWR authorities have clarified that the Dudhsagar Railway Station situated near Castle Rock Station of South Western Railway was open for public and the alighting and boarding of trains at the station was prohibited.

The authorities have said that it had been observed that a large number of people access the Dudhsagar waterfalls by travelling in Goods Train or by Trekking along the Railway Track or by alighting from Express Train at unscheduled stoppages. Recently, there was an incident of unruly crowd resorting to stone pelting, climbing on the Train Engine thereby disrupting the Train services and endangering the safety of other passengers, they have said in the release.

They have also clarified that Dudhsagar Station did not have any passenger amenities as the trains stopped at the station only for technical reasons and not for any passengers. They have clarified that it was highly unsafe for the Public to access Dudhsagar through rail route.

Warning

The authorities have warned that trekking along railway track or trespassing on railway area and endangering safety of passengers was an offence and violators would be prosecuted under Sections 147, 151, 152 and 153 of Indian Railways Act, 1989.

They have also said that unlawful entry into goods trains, engines or express trains (forcibly at non-designated Stations) was also an offence and violators were punishable under Sections 147, 156 and 174 of the Indian Railways Act, 1989.

Through the release the SWR authorities have appealed to the public to co-operate with the Railways in ferrying passengers safely by maintaining the track and tunnels in the Ghat section.
