Visually impaired share the vision of serving people

Loss of vision has not dimmed the determination in these men. Raghavendra A.G of Alur in Kudligi taluk in Ballari district and B. Thimmappa of Ballari are among the three visually impaired to appear for the Gazetted Probationary Officers’ exam conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) that was held here on Sunday.

With the vision to serve people, these men are keen to pass the examination and assume a post where they can achieve their goal. This is their first attempt. They appeared for the exams with the help of scribes attached to them in a separate hall allotted in M.B.S.L School in the city. The scribes read out the questions and the options for the answer given by the candidate.

Raghavendra is a newspaper agent in his native and a Post-Graduate (MA Political Science) while Thimmappa is working as First Division Assistant in Ballari District Court.

“I am a social worker and I want to serve the society. For that I need a position and I can get it by passing the KPSC exam”, Mr. Raghavendra told The Hindu .

Earlier, Raghavendra had attempted online exams conducted by State Bank of India and other banks but could not succeed only by a few marks.

Thimmappa too, wants to help people.

The two informed that they had done well and expressed their confidence of getting through the exams.
