Villagers catch youth, hand him over to police

Residents of Banavase village in Sakleshpur taluk on Wednesday caught a youth suspecting his conduct and handed him over to the police. The youth is said to be a native of Bihar.

According to the residents, the youth was seen roaming in the village since Tuesday evening and suspecting his conduct, they caught him and informed Sakaleshpur Rural Police. The villagers suspected him to be a child snatcher.

Hassan Superintendent of Police R.K. Shahapurwad told The Hindu that the youth was not assaulted by the villagers. He would issue a press release on the issue and also make a statement on the spreading of rumours about child snatchers.
