Students from Sidlipura and Kotegangur villages staged a protest in the city on Monday demanding that the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) modify its schedule.
More than 50 students from the two villages are studying in various schools and colleges in the city. They commute from their village daily.
Addressing the protesters, Shashank, a high school student, said that as of now, there is one KSRTC bus towards Sidlipura and Kotegangur villages. The bus starts from Sidlipura at 10 a.m. and by the time it reaches Shivamogga, classes would have commenced already. As a result, most of the students are forced to travel in multi-utility vehicles and autorickshaws, he said.
He said if the bus starts at 9 a.m., it would be a big help for students. Adding that the road connecting the villages with the city was full of potholes and near unmotorable, he called upon the authorities to repair it.
The students also submitted a memorandum in this regard to the office of the Deputy Commissioner.
They want the bus
to Shivamogga city
to start from Sidlipura village at
9 a.m., not 10 a.m.
