Village Assistants of the Revenue Department will take out a protest march from Siddaganga Math in Tumkur to Bangalore on November 5 demanding regularisation of services.

Later, they will stage an indefinite protest at the Freedom Park here from November 7.

Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, Karnataka State Revenue Department Village Assistants’ Association president Muddukrishna said that there were 10,450 village assistants working on ad hoc basis in the Revenue Department for the past 33 years. They were being paid Rs. 3,500 per month. A Government Order issued in 2007 to regularise their services is yet to come into effect with revised salary.

He appealed to the Government to regularise their services as Group D employees and revise their salaries. The other demands of the village assistants include fixing Rs. 1 lakh compensation for retired village assistants, accord sanction to pay pension to them, appoint kith and kin of those village assistants who died during service.
