The former bureau chief of The Hindu, Bangalore, C.M. Ramachandra, 90, had a harrowing time on Thursday while attempting to cast his vote at a polling booth at JSS Institute in Jayanagar VIII Block, for he found his name missing in the electoral roll.

Mr. Ramachandra said though he had an EPIC card, he had to run from pillar to post for nearly two-and-a-half hours, to no avail. The veteran journalist said he had been voting in every election since 1952 and this was the first time he could not exercise his franchise.
