Stating that the law enforcement agencies have meted out gross injustice against the innocent Muslims by falsely implicating them in terror charges, veteran Delhi-based journalist, Ajit Sahi has regretted that even a large section of media has remained part of this injustice by not presenting the facts, and only harping on untrue news.
Speaking after inaugurating the seminar of ‘Politics of terror, myths and reality’ organised by Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) on Tuesday evening here, he accused the media of filing all sorts of stories against arrested Muslims youths without verifying the facts.
“The media suddenly swings into action when they get the news of Muslim youth arrested on terror charges. We began reading and watching strange stories about these men. But a few years later, when the same men are released by the court when nothing against them is proved, the media hardly tries to investigate to find out why they were arrested when no charge was proved”, Mr. Sahi said.
He said that most terrible thing the media and the law enforcement agencies are doing, was not trying to find out the real culprits if the first arrested person has been found innocent.
“This is the glaring questions the media should ask, who are the real culprits if the released are innocent. Where the real culprits are and what action was taken to arrest them”, he remarked.
Mr. Sahi who has made extensive research and exposed how Muslim youths are falsely implicated in terror charges, also accused a section of judiciary of being biased in giving justice to Muslims youth.
Terming some judges of suffering from prejudice about Muslim men, he said who will help innocent people if the judiciary turn blind eye on them.
The veteran journalist said that most of the major political parties including Congress, SP and BSP who call themselves secular, were the ones who have done injustice to the Muslim youth in the States they were ruling.
“The Muslims must understand and come out of the notion that only BJP is against Muslim, the fact is that Congress and other parties too have done nothing better for Muslims in States such as Maharashtra, Delhi, Rajasthan where the party is either ruling or has ruled.
He categorically asserted that 99.99 per cent Hindus were with Muslim while a very marginal section against them to gain some political mileage.
Mr. Sahi urged the people for unity in seeking justice as he felt was the only way.
Association of Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) State convener, Irshad Ahmed Desai also spoke on the occasion.
