Veteran Congress leader K H Ranganath passes away

Veteran Congress leader and former Karnataka minister K H Ranganath died here on Tuesday in a private hospital after a brief illness, family sources said.

Mr. Ranganath,86, is survived by two sons and four daughters.

Mr. Ranganath was suffering from kidney disorder and had been undergoing treatment in a private hospital since last month.

Mr. Ranganath, a six term MLA from Hiriyura assembly constituency in Chitradurga district, was also a Lok Sabha member from Chitradurga during 1984-89.

He had served in the ministries of late D Devaraj Urs, Bangarappa and S M Krishna.

Mr. Ranganath was also the speaker of the state assembly.

The mortal remains of Mr. Ranganath is being taken to his home town Hiriyur for cremation which will be held tomorrow, sources said.
