Renowned theatre and film personality C.R. Simha (72) died here on Friday. He was suffering from prostate cancer, according to family sources. He is survived by his wife and son, Ritwik Simha.
Best known for his work in Kannada theatre, he was also an avid writer and documented his experiences in films and theatre in “Nimma Simha”.
He directed five films, including Kakanakote, Simhasana and Ashwamedha. Simha essayed the character of Tughlaq in a play written by Girish Karnad for nearly 30 years.
According to Mr. Ritwik Simha, Simha’s body will be kept at Samsa Auditorium on the premises of Ravindra Kalakshetra for public viewing on Saturday morning. The last rites will be performed at Banashankari crematorium in the evening.
Earlier, the mood was sombre at Simha’s residence, “Guhe”, at Banashankari III Stage. But not many eyes were wet as the late actor had expressed his wish that his friends and family should not weep at his funeral.
