Street vendors in Udupi have been provided designated areas so that they don’t sell their products by the side of roads blocking traffic.

As many as 289 vendors have also been provided identity cards.

This was stated by G. Anuradha, Additional Deputy Commissioner, said on Friday after inaugurating a one-day workshop on Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihoods Mission Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation ofStreet Vending) Act, 2014, organized by the State Institute of Urban Development, Mysuru, and District Urban Development Cell at the District Offices Complex auditorium, here.

The Udupi City Municipal Council has identified vendor zones at Manipal, Kalsanka, Ajjarkad and Ambagilu. All basic facilities would be provided to the vendors in these zones by the urban local bodies, she said. They will be provided necessary skills and small loans.
