The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat (ABVP) on Wednesday staged a demonstration to protest against the inordinate delay on the part of the government in appointment of Vice-Chancellors to six universities.

The activists said in a memorandum to the authorities that the functioning of the universities had been hampered due to the top posts remaining vacant.

They urged the government to expedite the process of appointing Vice-Chancellors at the earliest in the interest of students, ensuring quality of education and also development of universities.

They also urged the Governor, who is also the Chancellor of the universities in the State, to intervene in the matter and direct the government to accelerate the process of appointment.
