Chief Minister Siddaramaiah launched 23 development works in Varuna Assembly constituency, which he represents, during his visit on Tuesday.

He also distributed benefits under various department schemes to the beneficiaries of the constituency. Hundreds of people waited since morning to submit their petitions to the Chief Minister, who seldom visits the constituency owing to his busy schedule.

“I cannot visit the constituency often owing to my schedule. My joint secretary is in touch with the people on a regular basis and is addressing their grievances. Even my son, Rakesh, visits the constituency on my behalf and interacts with the people,” Mr. Siddaramaiah told a gathering at Varuna, about 15 km from Mysuru.

Mr. Siddaramaiah said he became the Chief Minister because of the blessings of the people of Varuna constituency. “I am indebted to you,” he said.

The Chief Minister said he had plans to make Varuna a model constituency. “I have three-and-half-years more in office. I am sure I can make it a model segment.”

On Tuesday, works estimating Rs. 84.88 crore were launched in the constituency.

Development works were also launched for T. Narsipur constituency.

Minister in-charge of Mysuru district V. Srinivas Prasad, Minister for Social Welfare H. Anjaneya, elected representatives from the district, and senior officials were present. The village was decked up to receive the Chief Minister, who addressed a large gathering on the premises of a government school.
