Urban innovation council for Karnataka in the offing

Minister for Urban Development Vinay Kumar Sorake said in Mangalore on Tuesday that the government will set up a council for innovation for urban governance, in the state, to guide urban local bodies.

The council would conduct conferences in each City Corporation to enlighten officials on good governance, he told presspersons here.

Mr. Sorake said that Sam Pitroda, chairman, National Innovation Council, would be invited to address the valedictory of the series of conferences in Bangalore.

The department will also conduct capacity building training for officials of 20 urban local bodies, including city corporation and city municipalities, in the next four years.

The government would spend Rs. four crore for it , he said.
