Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh on Monday said the UPA’s equation with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) will not alter in the wake of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav’s conviction in the fodder scam.

“I am sure he [Mr. Yadav] will be able to prove his innocence in the higher court. RJD is a dependable ally of the UPA,” he told reporters in Mysore.

Mr. Singh, who arrived here to attend Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s rally in Mandya later in the day, described the purported remark against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif as a “figment of the imagination of a journalist.”
