Uniform user fee for stadiums

August 23, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 09:41 am IST - BENGALURU:

The State government has decided to introduce a uniform user fee policy for all district stadiums. The fee will be collected by district authorities from institutions, organisations, schools, and colleges for utilising stadiums for conducting annual sports events. It will be fixed based on facilities in stadiums.

Minister of State for Youth Empowerment and Sports Pramod Madwaraj on Monday said Ballari district stadium had surplus amount of Rs. 80 lakh user fee, Mangaluru Stadium Rs. 40 lakh and Udupi stadium Rs. 10 lakh. However, Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru, collected user fee of Rs. 1 crore and spent Rs. 2 crore.

In the wake of India’s poor performance in the Rio Olympics, he said the department would come out with a new sports policy by October to provide incentives for sportspersons.
