Former Chief Justice of India M.N. Venkatachaliah said unethical science can prove disastrous for humankind.
Delivering fifth annual convocation address at Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of Higher Education and Research (SDUAHER), a deemed to be university at Tamaka here on Friday, Mr. Venkatachalaiah counselled medical graduates not to be too eager to chase money. “Medical profession is a noble profession to serve humanity”, he said and called upon doctors to serve patients with more compassion.
Talking at length about the developments in the fields of science and technology, Justice Venkatachalaiah said “the field of medicine today has not remained only prescriptive, it is also predictive”.
The speed of change is mind-boggling and sky is the limit for the future possibilities in medicine, he remarked.
“Don’t forget the parents who made your dream come true and whose debt you can never adequately repay”, he said.
Mr. Venkatachalaiah conferred the Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) to Chennai-based diabetologist Dr. V. Mohan.
Former MP R.L. Jalappa, Chancellor Rajesh N. Jagadale, Vice-Chancellor P.F. Kotur, Registrar A.V. M. Kutty, controller of examinations D.V.L.N. Prasad and M.B. Sanikop participated among others.
