Undertrial escapes

An undertrial who was being brought to the city by the Tumkur police escaped from the clutches of the police near the Majestic area on Wednesday evening.

The undertrial, Sadiq (30), had been booked for two cases in Shira taluk of Tumkur district and was produced to a local court in Tumkur on Wednesday. He was later escorted by the police to the city and had to be taken to the Parappana Agrahara prison here. However, he escaped near the Majestic area. The Cottonpet police have registered a case regarding this and are investigating.
