 A team of six experts from the University Grants Commission visited Government Arts College to assess the college for autonomous status on Friday.

A team of six persons, headed by Eshan Ahmad Khan, professor of Statistics at Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi, visited the Government Arts College here on Friday to assess the facilities there to confer autonomous status. The team sent by the University Grants Commission interacted with the teaching faculty and students.

According to a communiqué from the college, the team members would evaluate the performance of each department in the college on Saturday. I.M. Mohan, principal of the college, welcomed the committee. In his initial remarks, he said the college deserved the autonomous status.

The National Assessment and Accreditation Committee has granted grade A to the college, he said.
