A two-and-a-half year old female bear, which was caught in a wire net at Honnenahalli in Sira taluk in the district, was tranquilized and rescued by the Forest Department on Sunday.
A farmer, Muthuvalli Rahamatulla of Honnenahalli had allegedly put a wire net to trap the wild boars which come to eat the maize crops grown in his field.
But the villagers found a bear trapped in the wire net on Sunday morning and informed the Forest Department.
According to the Forest department, a team of experts including Veterinary doctor, Dr. Arun came from Bannerghatta National park to tranquilize the animal. They tranquilized the animal and rescued it from the wire net.
Assistant Conservator of Forests, Nagendra B.S. Rao told 'The Hindu', “medical examination of the bear was done and was found that the bear was healthy and did not have any fractures or injuries.”
The bear was rescued and then left to a safe place in the evening.
Deputy Conservator of Forests, Amaranath, Assistant Conservator of Forests, Nagaraj and others were present.
