Two youths beaten up

July 23, 2013 09:58 am | Updated 09:58 am IST - Mangalore:

Two Muslim youths were beaten up allegedly by members of a Hindu rightwing organisation on National Highway 66 near Jeppinamogeru on Monday morning.

Ramshid (19) and M. Mirza (17), both residents of Hosangadi were assaulted with sticks and rods by a group of around 10 men when they alighted from a bus at Jeppinamogeru, said a close aide of the two.

Both suffered minor injuries and were admitted to district Wenlock Hospital.

While the reason for the assault is not clear, Sanaullah, district president of the Campus Front of India, believed the group – that had followed the boys from Manjeshwar – may have been irked by their participation in the protests in Kasaragod district against a Facebook post on Sunday.
