Two women drowned in Bandaradakatte in Madhugiri taluk of Tumakuru district on Thursday. The police gave their names as Rathnamma (30) and Kalavathi (28) of Basavanahalli village.
The two were washing clothes on the bank of the pond when Rathnamma slipped and fell into the pond. Kalavathi tried to rescue her but as Rathnamma caught hold of Kalavathi, both of them drowned in the pond.
Fire and Emergency Services personnel recovered the bodies.
