Two school children, who had ventured out for a swim, drowned in a tank at Lakkur village in Holenarasipur taluk on Saturday evening.
The deceased have been identified as Prajwal (11), from Havinamarahanalli village and Sudarshan (12), from Kuppe village. Both were studying in sixth standard at Higher Primary School at Tatanahalli in Holeanarasipur taluk.
They had been to swim in the Lakkur tank after school hours with other friends. Hundreds of villagers and relatives of the dead assembled near the tank after they learnt about the incident. Fire Brigade staff lifted the bodies from the tank. Holenarasipur Rural police have registered a case.
