Two people died in separate accidents reported in the district on Tuesday night.
A person died and two others suffered injuries when a car hit a roadside pedestal while trying to overtake a truck near Housing Board layout in the town. The deceased has been identified as Rajendra (26) of Ramanahalli on the city outskirts. He died of a serious head injury. Rajendra along with two friends (Shashi Kumar and Omkarmurthy) was returning after a visit to an agriculture land he had bought when the accident happened. The three reportedly had consumed alcohol. The Chikkamagaluru traffic police has registered a case.
In another incident, a motorcyclist died on the spot after he was hit by a truck near Ajjampura Cross in
Tarikere taluk. The deceased has been identified as Shivakumar (25) of Tudipet. The driver of the truck fled the accident spot. A case has been registered.
