A 34-year-old entrepreneur and his friend, an agriculturist, who had gone hunting in a wooded area near Moodbidri, were electrocuted.

According to the Moodbidri police, Greshan Rodrigues and his 32-year-old friend Praveen Tauro went in a sports utility vehicle on March 20 to a wooded area, about 3 km from the former’s house. The two parked the vehicle by the roadside and entered the wooded area for hunting.

When they failed to return home, their family members filed a missing person complaint on Thursday morning. Following extensive search by the police and locals, their bodies were found near a farm. The police said the two were electrocuted by a live wire, reportedly laid by the farm owner to prevent the entry of wild pigs. The police and the Mangalore Electricity Supply Company will conduct a joint inquiry into the issue.

According to the police, Rodrigues was a resident of Karije Kakkebettu village, while Tauro was a resident of Prantya village.
