Two cases filed against Ajay Singh

May 01, 2014 12:14 pm | Updated 12:14 pm IST - Bidar:

Election Officials registered two cases against Ajay Singh, MLA and son of Congress candidate from Bidar constituency and former Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh, for entering polling booths during re-polls for the Lok Sabha elections in Bidar on Tuesday.

Suspended

Two polling officers and four constables, who did not stop those who were not voting from entering the booth, were suspended. P.C. Jaffer, Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer, has submitted a report to the Election Commission on the incident.

Complaint

Earlier on Tuesday, Baburao Madakatti, supporter of the BJP nominee Bhagwant Khuba, had complained that Mr. Singh had entered the booths in Halladkeri and Aliambar during polling and interacted with polling officials.

This, they said, was strictly against the provisions of the Representation of the People Act and the model code of conduct.
