At least two Cabinet ministers have skipped the trip to Delhi, even as the Cabinet reshuffle scene has shifted to the national capital.

S.R. Patil, Minister for IT, BT, and Satish L. Jarkiholi, Minister for Small Scale Industries, chose to attend “Belagavi, The Next Global Technology Hub”, organised by the Department of Department of IT, BT and S&T here at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha on Friday. The event was organised with the stated objective of showing Belagavi’s strengths and potential to grow into the second IT capital of India, on par with Bengaluru.

Two other Congress legislators, two-time MLA from Belagavi North Feroz N. Sait and Chikodi-Sadalga MLA Ganesh P. Hukkeri also attended the event focussed on the development and progress of the city.

Mr. Patil, who inaugurated the event attended by industry leaders, prospective investors, elected representatives from the district, appreciated Mr. Jarkiholi for skipping the Delhi trip and attending “a historical event aimed at opening a new chapter in the expansion and progress of the IT sector in Karnataka, particularly for the industrial progress of Belagavi city.”

“I am happy that Mr. Jarkiholi is here. He could have gone to Delhi along with other ministers and legislators (aspirants of ministerial berths). It is inevitable for me attend the event as it has been organised by my ministry.”

Further, he said his priority was development and progress. In the event of a reshuffle and change in responsibilities, he would continue to work sincerely with any responsibility. If dropped, he had no reason to grieve, as someone else would carry on with the work.
