Residents of Bukkadi Bailu village near Sringeri, on Tuesday, found two banners addressed to elected representatives with regard to clearance of encroachment, controversial tiger project and granting land to the landless. The residents and police suspect it to be an act of suspected Maoists, as the text on both banners end with ‘CPI (Maoists)’.

In one of the two banners, newly elected members of taluk and zilla panchayats have been urged to keep aside their political affiliations and work to stop eviction of people in the name of projects, oppose implementation of K. Kasturirangan’s report on Western Ghats, National Park and Tiger projects, besides granting land to the landless.

In another banner, Deputy Commissioner of Chikkamagaluru has been appealed to clear the Hegre tank and Tyavani forest area where municipal waste has been dumped by the management of the Agriculture Producers Cooperative Marketing Society, Hegre.
