A tusker reportedly died due to electrocution in a company coffee estate near Kadlur Koplu in Alur taluk on Friday night.

The workers in the estate found the dead elephant on Saturday morning and informed Forest Department officials. They are yet to confirm the reasons for the death. Alur and Sakleshpur taluks of Hassan have seen several cases of human-elephant conflict in the recent past. Last year, the Forest Department captured 22 elephants and relocated them, after several people were killed in elephant attacks.
