The Tumkur City Municipal Corporation presented the first paperless e-budget in the State for 2015-16 here on Tuesday.

Before CMC Chairman of Standing Committee for Tax and Finance Nagesh B.S. presented the surplus paperless budget of Rs. 203.52 lakh, opposition members raised objection for presenting an e-budget as they were not given training to operate laptops.

Leader of Opposition, Tumakuru CMC, Sudhishwar, welcomed the decision of the ruling party to present a paperless budget but alleged that the members of the Opposition party were neglected while preparing the budget.

Mr. Sudhishwar raised objection against presenting the e-budget alleging that though they were provided laptops three months ago, no training was given to the members.

Reacting to the allegations, Corporator Rajanna said that the members were trained thrice to operate the laptops.

Corporator T.R. Nagaraj requested the Opposition to allow them to present the budget. But, the opposition staged a walkout. However, JD (S) and BJP members succeeded in persuading them to attend the budget session.

Mr. Nagesh said the budget aims at providing proper infrastructure, including drinking water, street lights, and drainages in the city.

He also announced that online tax payment will start from April 1.
