Truck transporting tyres destroyed in fire

A truck transporting tyres from Mysuru to Uttarakhand was partially destroyed in a fire after it overturned on Srirangapatna-Bidar highway at Samakanahalli in Nelamangala taluk.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, the police said.

Over-speeding was said to be the reason for the incident. Hundreds of tyres were destroyed in the incident. The loss was put at around Rs. 15 lakh.

Three injured

While the driver and cleaner of the truck escaped unhurt, three Fire and Emergency Services Personnel sustained minor injuries while trying to douse the flames, the police said.

The personnel – Krishna, Thopegowda and Muralidhar – were treated at a private hospital in Bellur in Nagamangala.

Fire doused

Fire and Emergency Services personnel from Pandavapura and Nagamangala stations doused the fire.

The police said they would investigate the case.
