Traffic police inspector suspended in Mysuru

December 14, 2014 12:52 pm | Updated 12:52 pm IST - MYSURU:

Barely a week after suspending three police personnel, Mysuru City Police Commissioner M.A. Saleem took similar action against inspector of N.R. Traffic police station, Irshad Ahmed, on charges of misconduct.

The police said Mr. Ahmed quarrelled with Udayagiri traffic police constable Ravi inside the N.R. Traffic police station about a week ago. The verbal fight between them over a petty issue soon degenerated into a physical fight with Mr. Ahmed allegedly causing injuries to Mr. Ravi.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) M.M. Mahadevaiah said an inquiry was conducted by Assistant Commissioner of Police (Narasimharaja division) A.K. Suresh. “It was highly unbecoming of the police inspector to fight in a police station,” he said. Mr. Ahmed’s suspension comes close on the heels of two constables and a head constable of the Mysuru city police.

Mr. Saleem had suspended constable Mahesh from Kuvempunagar police station for taking a bribe from a person caught driving in a drunken state. Similar action was initiated against head constable Subbanna and constable Prakash, both attached to the Vidyaranyapuram police station, for fighting in public over release of a lorry transporting sand.
