Tourists stay indoors

July 31, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:58 am IST - MYSURU:

Weekend tourists kept off the city on Saturday following the bandh call. Some tourists, who had arrived here earlier, chose to stay in their hotels.

Though some tourist spots remained open despite the bandh, there were very few visitors. While the Mysuru palace remained open, the zoo was open in the morning but closed by noon.

Mysuru palace director (in charge) and Additional Deputy Commissioner Venkatesh told The Hindu that the palace was kept open but tourists were scarce. Usually, the palace would be bustling with tourists but the scene on Saturday was different.

Mysuru zoo executive director Kamala Karikalan said the zoo opened at 8:30 a.m. “After assessing the situation, we resolved to close the zoo by noon,” she said.
