The Department of Pre-University (DPUE) had claimed that its initiative of uploading scanned copies of II PU answer scripts on its website would help students in accessing them quickly. But the delay in the process now has left students and parents livid.
Many anxious students and parents gathered at the helpdesk at the DPUE office here on Tuesday to complain about the delay them accessing the scanned copies.
They alleged that even four days after applying for the scanned copies, they were yet to access it.
Rajkumar Poojari, an agitated parent, said he had applied for the scanned copies last week for his son’s Kannada and physics papers. “We have not been able to access the scanned copies and the authorities said they would be uploaded in a day or two. We are getting anxious as the date to apply for re-totalling and re-evaluation is June 7,” he said.
Another parent said that when department officials were questioned about the delay, they claimed that additional scanners were yet to reach the city from Chennai.
“Why are there not enough scanners in the city? The department should have put in place a proper system before the results were announced,” he said.
The DPUE had extended the deadline to pay the fees for scanned copies till Tuesday following requests from parents and students. Many parents who did not have access to the Internet also complained that the new system was cumbersome for them.
Meanwhile, Rame Gowda, DPUE Director, said the department was speeding up the process. “The delay is on account of the time being taken for processing in banks. We are working to help students get the scanned copies in time,” he said.
All students would be able to access the scanned copies by June 5, he said.
