Train services from Mysuru to Bengaluru were affected for nearly two hours on Friday afternoon after the Tipu Express hit a buffalo. The incident occurred between Mandya and Hanakere stations.

The train, with at least 600 passengers, was heading to Bengaluru when it the buffalo, Railway officials said.

Railway officials from Mandya and Mysuru rushed to the spot and cleared the carcass from the tracks. The train was stopped for nearly two hours at the spot, they said.

According to them, the engine suffered some damage and it was repaired.

However, the movement of trains from Bangalore to Mysore was not affected, as they used the other track, officials added.
