Tiger spotted near lake in Torahalli village

The tiger, which has a 'catch or kill' order on its head, is said to have been spotted near a lake in Torahalli village in Khanapur taluk of Belagavi district today the afternoon.

The villagers informed the Forest Department officials about the movement of the tiger near the lake. The armed staff have been rushed to the spot, according to the official sources.

The search operation for the tiger continued today after the mutilated body of the 23-year-old woman was found yesterday.

Five teams of forest department staff have been engaged in search operation. Besides, 10 sharp shooters of the Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) have joined the operation.

Villagers have been told not to enter the forest area or live along in houses located close to forest till the operation was concluded, the officials said.
